To mark the anniversary of the rough-cut mower, AS-Motor commissioned an airbrush artist to customise an AS 63 2T ES. The result is a unique piece that visually traces the origins of the rough-cut mower.
The airbrush model is not a new production variant. It was built as a show model and is scheduled to debut at GaLaBau 2026 in Nuremberg. Its design translates technical development, brand history and the work of cutting tall grass into a visual concept that changes from every angle.
A unique piece for the rough-cut mower’s anniversary
The rough-cut mower was born out of a specific need. In the Swabian homeland of AS-Motor, there was no machine in the late 1950s capable of reliably cutting tall grass on steep slopes. Company founder Alfred Schefenacker developed his own solution, laying the foundation for AS-Motor in 1959.
From the first rough-cut mower, an entire family of machines emerged for meadows, embankments, orchards and hard-to-access terrain. To this day, the name stands for mowers that cut and mulch dense growth where a conventional lawnmower would fail.

Beneath the airbrush design lies a standard AS 63 2T ES. It is not just a display piece. This walk-behind rough-cut mower is designed for tall grass, slopes and uneven terrain.
Its cross-blade system cuts and mulches growth in a single pass. The enclosed cutter deck reduces the lateral ejection of clippings and foreign objects.
The AS 2-stroke engine features position-independent lubrication, which is particularly relevant when the machine is not continuously used on level ground. According to the current product specification, the AS 63 2T ES offers a 61 cm cutting width and is designed for grass heights up to 100 cm. The drive can be adjusted via Variomatic to suit the terrain and growth conditions.
