High-tech for the lawn

Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI and STW (Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH), AS-Motor is presenting a special innovation at this year's demopark in Hörselberg near Eisenach. An RC mower fleet - consisting of three AS 940 Sherpa 4WD RC - will be on display in the innovation area of the fairgrounds, working a defined green area fully automatically.

At demopark, AS-Motor, the Fraunhofer IVI and Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH will present three professional ride-on RC mowers that work together on green areas - even on rough terrain - fully automatically. It will be shown how a "driver" operates and monitors the three AS 940 Sherpa 4WD RC ride-on mowers and in this way not only achieves three times the area output, but can also work more precisely and without fatigue. Depending on the application, he can activate the mower fleet directly on site or remotely - e.g. from the office.

A key technology here is the control tower software helyOS® (highly efficient online yard Operating System), which was developed at the Fraunhofer IVI with the aim of efficiently developing, testing and deploying autonomous mobile machines. From small to large projects, helyOS® acts as a central hub for connecting, controlling and monitoring fleets of machines via a local network or the cloud. With the control tower software helyOS® , trucks and agricultural machinery can already be networked and controlled automatically. Now the digital control tower also delivers missions for professional lawnmowers.

Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH provides the on-board technologies for control centre integration. The TCG-4 connectivity module from STW (Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH) is used to network the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD with helyOS®. The Linux-based control unit is also responsible for vehicle automation. The travel orders are received and processed by helyOS® via WLAN or LTE. For this purpose, a track controller determines suitable control signals based on the actual and target position and transmits them to the AS 940 Sherpa 4WD via the CAN bus.

Dare to take a look into the future with us and visit the innovation area (near the lawn competence tent) at demopark from 18 to 20 June 2023 in Hörselberg near Eisenach. We will also be happy to advise you at our stand E595.
